Wake-up and Broaden Your Perspective

In 2005 – 06 I rented a room to a student from India in the US to earn a Master’s Degree in Economics.  Extremely bright, well informed, and in his thirties, he had already enjoyed a successful career as a world affairs journalist for the Indian Times.  I count myself privileged to have met him. He introduced me to new ways to thinking and a much broader perspective on life than I enjoyed having been well schooled in our US chauvinistic, self-satisfied sense of our world-class superiority.

I remember being profoundly struck by the underlying truth of a statement he made when we were talking about the American unrealistic (and foolishly lacking in grounded reality) smug sense of self-importance. We were discussing how the Chinese were on the rise and seemed to be destined to become the dominant world power.  He said, “The Chinese are very patient people.” He went on to describe how they “get” they have no need to mount armies to fight the US. All they need to do is — wait. Americans are primed to believe and act as if “every person for him or herself” is an effective way to be. When the US starts unraveling, US citizens will become even more self-centered and will rip each other apart.  China will be ready and able to just pick up the pieces (Of course this is an over simplification and I trust you can “get” the drift.)

The Turmoil in the US Today

The healthcare bill discussions appear to be setting the stage for masses of US residents to emerge as mortal enemies of each other based upon who will be covered for what  (rich vs. poor, young vs. old, pre-existing vs. healthy). The current Russian crisis is likely deepen the divide in our already fiercely divided country.  Clearly, it is obvious free speech is being severely challenged.

The Current Full Moon

When there is a Full Moon the heavens present us with a short time when the most reflected light is available to us is present. It is a time when we have the POTENTIAL of see more clearly. The Moon is currently in Scorpio, the sign known for stinging truths about the very subjects people typically do not want to talk about namely (but not limited to) death, taxes, sex, and other people’s money. It is also the sign of true deep and profound transformation. Ttraditionally people are  likely to be familiar with the stinging Scorpion as the symbol of this sign. However, additionally, (and thankfully), the sign for enlightened Scorpio energy is the Eagle (a majestic bird with a profound ability to see with clarity).

With this potential in mind I suggest a Tune: Take it to the Limit by the Eagles. I recommend it as an inspiration to mobilize your inner self so you are inspired to be part of the solution — a course to preserve our dignity as humans and freedoms
Americans whether we be threatened from within or from without our nation are being called to awaken.  It is not an accident this recent news happened during a Full Moon.  The eagle is bird known for being magnificent in its ability to go beyond the beyond in strength and ability to transcend limits. It is time for us to dig deep within to transcend any sense of limitation.
